Rev. Dwayne Thompson has served as Senior Pastor of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas since July 2024, bringing years of pastoral leadership within the Texas Annual Conference. His ministry experience includes serving as Senior Pastor and Resident Elder of CP3 Ministries, Associate Pastor at Covenant Glen Church, Senior Pastor of St. Paul UMC, and Interim Pastor for several United Methodist congregations across Texas. Pastor Thompson’s leadership focuses on church administration, discipleship, spiritual enrichment, and pastoral care, and he is actively involved with the Texas Annual Conference, Black Methodists for Church Renewal, and the African American Church Initiative. He holds a B.A. in Business Management from LeTourneau University and a Master of Divinity from Perkins School of Theology, and after more than 30 years with the Metropolitan Transit Authority, he answered God’s call to ministry. He has been married for 25 years to his wife, Mrs. Charla Parker-Thompson, and they are blessed with a beautiful family of daughters.
Ebenezer UMC–Houston is blessed to introduce our First Lady, Mrs. Charla Parker-Thompson, who has been happily married to Pastor Dwayne Thompson for 25 years and has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to God’s church and ministry. Throughout her service, she has led and supported numerous committees and ministries, including education, finance, outreach, prayer, music, bereavement, and special initiatives such as the building fund, food pantry, and community outreach programs. Lady Parker-Thompson is actively involved with the Texas Annual Conference Clergy Spouses Organization, Black Methodists for Church Renewal, and the African American Church Initiative, and she has shared her gifted voice alongside noted gospel artists. Professionally, she brings over 25 years of experience in compliance and auditing and currently serves as an Audit Executive, holding degrees in Accounting and Business Management and pursuing her doctoral studies. A devoted mother, executive, and prayer warrior, she lives by the scripture, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13).
